Manage the CrossTalk workflow with InDesign
The CtrlCrossTalkID Plug-in enables InDesign users to manage our popular CrossTalk workflow. CtrlCrossTalkID makes the collaboration between InDesign and InCopy users transparent. In addition it will refine the initial InCopy workflow to better suit the needs of publishers, agencies, inhouse production and other collaborative workgroups.
Art directors and copywriters can work on the same document, the copywriter works in Adobe InCopy, a specialized text editor, while the art director works in Adobe InDesign with full control of the document and its layout.
With CtrlCrossTalkID, InDesign users can manage stories in a document by locking them to prevent the InCopy user from further modifying approved texts, while still allowing them to complete additional work on the same file. CtrlCrossTalkID even allows the InDesign user to completely disable the CrossTalk workflow so that the InCopy user can no longer edit the text when a document has reached its final stage.

Q&A
Q: Will I as an art director have to save the file in any special format or do some kind of "exporting" for the copywriter to be able to open the InDesign document in InCopy?
A: No. Absolutely NOT. However, the InCopy user needs to have the CtrlCrossTalk plug-in installed.
Q: What do you mean by refining the initial InCopy workflow?
A: The initial InCopy workflow was designed by Adobe to let you assign stories to be edited, leaving stories not assigned as read only. We found that most users want the opposite - to be able to choose what to lock and leave the rest of the stories editable.
Q: Can I use CtrlCrossTalkID to disable the InCopy users ability to further edit a document once it has reached its final stage?
A: Yes, simply choose "Disable" from the Ctrl menu. This will completely lock a document and no longer allow an InCopy user to edit it with CrossTalk. InCopy users will only be able to view the document, leaving the final adjustments to the InDesign user.
